I am going to see Wicked in Chicago this week, and I'm not sure what to wear. Do people dress up for the theater, or can you go in whatever you want???

Don't put on your Sunday Best but something you would if you were going out on a date. The show is great.

I am a huge theater goer in Chicago and have seen Wicked along with many other shows. Now that jeans have become nicer and more popular, I am seeing more and more people wearing them to the theater. Theater in Chicago, even evening performances, is not as fancy as it used to be. I used to never dream of wearing jeans to the theater, but things are changing and jeans are becoming an item that you can dress up. You really can wear whatever you want as long as you are comfortable knowing that some people will be in jeans and some people will be fancier. If I were going I would probably either wear nice jeans with a cute top/blazer and heels/boots, black pants, or a casual dress with leggings.

Enjoy the show!

Julie - I live in Chicago and have been to see WiCKED three times. If you're going to an afternoon matinee jeans are fine.

People tend to dress nicer for the evening shows, so just wear something a little nicer like a dress or dress pants.

One more thing. Real FANS of WiCKED like to dress like Elphaba (the Wicked Witch) and wear something green (preferably EMERALD green - like a blouse or sweater, a scarf or green hair ornament ) with black (like pants). If you really want to be fashionably dressed for WiCKED then wear green and black. You may see some fans wearing Pink or Green WiCKED t-shirts, too.

People usually dress up, but not like crazy style. So I would wear something elegant enough, without being ballroom style. That doesn't mean you have to wear a dress, just nice slacks and a nice top, I think. And I'd say heels.

Typically, it is good form to dress nicely. No need to go with a dress necessarily, crisp black slacks & a collared shirt would work.

Stay away from jeans, they just look inappropriate. Simply put, if it is not a ordinary occassion, don't dress ordinarily.

it is a large row, some distance sufficient back to confirm each little thing yet close sufficient to confirm facial expressions. as long as you're actually not way off to a minimum of one area i might say those are large seats. I sat in row W in NYC, and row T in Cleveland, and that they have got been suggestions-blowing! have exciting!
