Definitely eat at a few of the famous restaurants in town, like the Billy Goat Tavern or Kamehachi or Dinkel's Bakery. Chicago pizza is a must-eat while in town, and there are too many great pizzerias to mention. Pizzeria Uno or Giordano's are really well-known and popular.

I highly recommend going to see the Sears Tower, the John Hancock Observatory and the amazing Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio tour. If you want to do a lot of sightseeing, you might want to consider a Chicago Go Card. It gets you admission into a lot of museums and attractions. Here's more info on the card: http://www.gochicagocard.com

The downtown theater district is amazing - tons of great shows, you may even want to see Chicago while you're in town ;)

A lot of the attractions in the Navy Pier are a lot of fun, but they may be closed due to the weather.

Definitely head out to Millenium Park, it's so beautiful there - and if you like to skate their ice rink is very fun. http://www.millenniumpark.org

Here's a story someone else had about their first trip to Chicago, and it was around the holiday season, too. http://www.globosapiens.net/travel-information/Chicago-1467.html

For more ideas, here's the official tourism site: http://www.choosechicago.com/Pages/default.aspx

Just surf through it and take notes of all the things you want to see and do.

Chicago is an amazing city. I'm sure you and your husband will have a great time. Happy Holidays!

Bring plenty of coats, scarves, hats, mittens, and warm shoes. Chicago gets very cold in the winter and the frigidness is only enhanced by the wind (and trust me, there is LOTS of wind!). I would definitely go to all the popular spots- the Field Museum, the Shed Aquarium, the Art Institute, the John Hancock Building Sky Deck (AMAZING views), and Michigan Avenue. This may sound cliche, but Chicago really has fantastic attractions. Here's a website that lists places to go: http://www.travelandleisure.com/cityguides/chicago-the-chicago-area

Wooo hoo!!

Im goin to Chicago to for the first time at the end of december!. I my self have never seen snow! I live in south texas so im also very excited! A friend of mine just went this past week up there because her son graduated from the navy. I believe it was also in Great Lakes Base, il and from what she told me is that she like to froze to death!! She said it was snowing like crazy and there was ice everywhere!

When i go we are going to all the museums which are awesome! you can get a city pass and get into all of them for 110 bucks! which is cheap to get into i believe like 5 or 6 museums.

I hope you have a great time and remember to layer your clothes so you will be nice and warm!

Definitely bring like 12 winter jackets so you dont freeze!! my sister came from FL and froze her butt off. but otherwise Id spend at least one day at the museums like the planetarium and shed aquarium and science and industry. they are all close so thats an easy one but they are really great! Also Buckingham Fountain is beautiful. Millennium park is nice you can ice skate and its very nice. Michigan avenue is where you will do all your shopping =D and the zoos are great my personal fav is Brookfield but Lincoln park is nice too! Navy Pier is Fun, there are way too many things to see here! If you go online you can find lots of great things and special events the days you will be here. if you want any more places just email me!
